Located in the County of Monzambano, “I Barbasse” merges into the beauty of the morainic hills. The village itself is walled within the castle erected by the Scaligeri family, rulers of Verona in the feudal era, between the 1100s and the 1200s.

Surrounding it, is the so-called “amphitheater” of the morainic hills, just south of Lake Garda.

Built on a plateau just north of the little lake, the castle displays thick walls and 10 towers. Divided into two areas, one for the keeper of the property and one for the captain of the Scaligeri’s army, the castle was an outpost for the ruling family of the territory.

In the nearby county of Valeggio sul Mincio you can visit the village of Borghetto, a little community erected in one of the Mincio river’s most beautiful spots.

In proper Valeggio you can visit the famous Parco Giardino Sigurtà, a natural preserve in the heart of town.
